  • kin·dling ( ‘kin(d)-li[ng] ) verb - 1 : to start (a fire) burning; 2 a : to stir up; <kindling interest> b : to bring into being; 3 : to cause to glow.
  • moon ( ‘mün ) noun - 1 : a natural satellite of a world; 2 : one complete cycle of all a moon’s phases; 3 : something impossible or inaccessible.
  • kin·dling moon ( ‘kin(d)-li[ng] ‘mün ) noun 1 : to start one complete cycle of all a moon’s phases; 2 : to bring into being something impossible or inaccessible; 3 : an Arabian fantasy of altered reality; 4 : a tabletop role-playing game played with polyhedral dice, good friends, and your imagination.

  • We didn’t start out trying to innovate a new roleplaying system, just a unique world setting we could share with people looking for something new. What we discovered along the way was that current RPG systems seemed neither quick enough nor specific enough for what we were trying to accomplish. Starting from a simple design document, we slowly began to play our new game, pausing when things become unstable and stopping when things collapsed all together.

    Finally, the system stopped breaking down; the rules had begun to work together so well that they seemed to WANT to work. We had created something new from the ground up that was designed from the very beginning to work together, no matter what task needed to be accomplished, what spell needed cast, or what foe needed vanquishing. Soon after, the entire game began to take shape…
